Newspaper from the History Museum

This is a picture of a paper on display in the History Museum. The small print reads "Doenitz at Helm, Vows War Will Continue."  Karl Doenitz was the last President of the Third Reich, better known for masterminding the "wolfpack" idea of grouping several submarines together to overwhelm a merchant convoy's defensive escorts. By the end of '42, Doenitz was able to cause serious damage to allied shiping through his wolfpack tactics. One of the charges against him in the Nuremberg war trials was "waging unrestricted submarine warfare against neutral shipping." He was imprisoned for 10 years in Spandau prison. HIS MOTHER'S LAST NAME WAS BEYER.
