Venice always makes me wish I had been here in the time of Casanova and the great carnivals. Napoleon outlawed them at the end of the 18th century, and then the Austrian occupiers continued the ban. I love all the mazes and arched passages where I imagine all sorts of intrigue took place. This is a sketch I did bringing the two together,--masks and mazes that is. Most of the pictures below are without commentary as they speak for themselves. Didn't take many pictures this time around having been here many times already.
