Gasteig is a cultural center in Munich, opened in 1985, which hosts the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. Most of the events of the Filmfest Munchen, and many of the events of the Munich Biennale take place here. The sculpture above is Albert Hein's untitled fountain, located in the courtyard, resembles a French Horn enlarged to Pop Art dimensions. The site of the Burgerbraukeller where the Beer Hall Putsch of 1923 was launched, is right behind this building. We stayed across the street at the Holiday Inn, a perfect choice as it is close to the City Center and one can access the underground from the hotel without even going outside.
