Old Town Hall (German Altes Rathaus)

The Old Town Hall was the domicile of the municipality until 1874. Today it serves as a building for the city council in Munich. It bounds the central square Marienplatz on its east side.  The Grand Hall was decorated by Morris dancers,--and was the venue for the speech of Joseph Goebbels on Nov. 9, 1938 which is known as the prelude for the Kristallnacht. Although the building was bombed, it has been rebuilt according to 15th Century plans.
