On top of the tower are 2 bronze figures of "The Moors" or "The Mori" who were originally intented to be giants, but as the bronze darkened, they became known as "The Moors." They were cast in 1497 in the Arsenale and represent 'the chaos and primordial darkness that preceded The Creation of the World.'
